August 4 is Single Working Women’s Day, a day reserved to acknowledge the vital position that single working women play in our communities and societies. Because single girls wanted to work—to help themselves and to ground their identities in something other than marriage and child-rearing—they normalized the picture of the working woman, which benefited their married counterparts, too. Volunteer your money and time to organizations that work in direction of serving to single, working ladies stand on their toes and be self reliant in these countries. Far too many women define themselves by being the girlfriend or spouse of someone else.
